Procedures for placing an ORISE Senior Fellow

To place a Senior Fellow through the ORISE program, please follow these steps:

IC Sponsor:

1.
The IC Sponsor and his/her Administrative Officer will complete an NIH Interagency Agreement (Form 1742).

a.) Authorize funding for all direct costs for the Fellow for an initial period not to exceed 12 months, plus 23 percent for ORISE and DOE administrative costs.
b.) Obtain all the appropriate signatures for the Interagency Agreement, including that of the IC's financial officer.

2. Submit the completed Senior Fellow application package to the Office of Intramural Research (OIR) at Bldg.1/Room 156 for approval:

a.) Include the completed and signed ORISE Senior Fellow Check Sheet.
b.) Attach all supporting documents as specified in the Check Sheet.
c.) Attach ORISE Senior Fellow Candidate Application Form
d.) Attach ORISE Approval Form
e.) Include the completed Interagency Agreement (Form 1742 for final approval by OIR (Deputy Director for Intramural Research/or designee). Only one copy is needed for DOE. If your IC requires more than one original, please indicate on the routing slip.

 

OIR/NIH:

1. The application package will be reviewed for scientific merit and program conformity by the DDIR/or designee (Drs. Michael Gottesman/Arlyn Garcia-Perez), who will make the final approval decision regarding the application.

2. The Interagency Agreement will be reviewed by Linda Adams to see that it is complete and matches the application.

3. Upon approval by OIR/NIH, Linda Adams, Senior Fellow Program Coordinator, will return the Interagency Agreement to the IC. The IC will forward the Interagency Agreement to DOE/Oak Ridge Operations to obligate funds, and the entire application package to Barbara Dorsey at ORISE for processing.

 

ORISE:

1.
Upon notification from DOE that funds have been obligated, ORISE will proceed to make the appointment offer, securing visas where necessary, and assuring that all necessary documents are in order.

2. ORISE will send copies of all correspondence to the IC Sponsor and to Linda Adams, the OIR/NIH Senior Fellow Program Coordinator.
