  1. Minutes of the May 21 Meeting: The draft minutes were approved with two minor modifications.

  2. Dates for Future Meetings: A handout with the dates of the monthly meetings was distributed. One date (for August) has changed since. Members were notified by email of the new date for the August meeting (Aug.20).

  3. Revised Charge: The following amendment was added to the Charge of the NIH Academy Working Group: "Review existing literature on models of best practice for biomedical research training, recruitment and mentoring. Obtain information from current NIH trainees, through focus groups or surveys, to design marketing strategies for recruitment of targeted populations into NIH intramural research programs." The revised Charge was approved.

  4. Minutes on the NIH Academy Working Group Website: Dr. Garcia-Perez requested the group's opinion on posting the minutes on the NIH Academy Working Group website managed by the Office of Intramural Research (http://www1.od.nih.gov/oir/sourcebook/comm-adv/academy-work-grp.htm). After some discussion, it was agreed that the approved final minutes for each meeting will be posted.

  5. Breakout for Discussion within Each of the Two Subcommittees: The "Best Practices - Focus Groups" subcommittee went to Ms. Hedetniemi's office for their discussion. The "Current NIH Intramural Recruitment Efforts/Programs and Data" subcommittee stayed in Room 151.
