1. Hot Issues in Human Resources - Richie Taffet
Jennifer Burton hired in HR to help facilitate the change
management process. She will attend all of our meetings to help with
that goal. She is involved with changes that require computer systems
only.
"E-induction" will be effective soon. It will involve an email sent to all new federal employees with forms that need to be completed. It will include offer letters that are standardized.
Social Security Numbers should be removed from award forms immediately, they are no longer required
2. Current Construction Restrictions and Utility Increases
Juanita Mildenberg was unable to attend the meeting; however, Cyrena Simons and Glen Stonebraker gave some information on the changes that are occurring with the need for Repair and Improvement (R&I) Funds requirements for some renovations that had previously used appropriated Research "operating" funds from the programs. Some of the information given includes:

3. Tips to Ensure Adequate Space and Utilities Before Buying New Scientific Equipment & Current Construction Restrictions and Utility Increases -- Cyrena Simons & Glen Stonebraker
Handout distributed on ways to save money when buying new equipment - ensuring that the infrastructure is in place to support the new equipment before it is delivered

Discussion by Glen and Cyrena on how to prepare infrastructure requests for new equipment
4. Official Duty Memos for Travel - Linda Adams
Linda said she would distribute this information to everyone.
5. Miscellaneous Issues - Linda Adams
a. DDIR Liaison Role in Helping the AOsLinda led a discussion on how she wants to get information from all the IC intramural programs on the issues that cause the most problems for them. If people would consider inviting her to their staff meetings, she could meet the AOs and have a discussion about the issues they face. Her first meetings with NIAAA and NIDDK have been very productive.
b. DDIR Budget Stretching Subcommittees -- status
Linda told everyone about the 7 subcommittees that Dr. Gottesman has established to look at ways to save money within the intramural program in different administrative areas including: animal care, personnel, procurement, renovations/facilities, and IT. Most committees include AOs, subject matter experts and scientists.
c. ORAU status
Linda promised to renew these BPAs for FY07 so that the people currently on these contracts can continue, uninterrupted, through FY07.
