1.

Supplement Project

·        The request for a $50,000 administrative supplement was made by Karen Peterson and submitted to NICHD.  The NCI had volunteered to pay $10,000 of it.

·        Goals of the project are to look at treatment fidelity of our studies, validate different coding systems, evaluate effects of MI on outcomes, look at process of how MI works.

Some questions that we will need to consider are:

·        How to select tapes

·        Define coding systems that each site is using internally

·        Can they be used universally, or easily adapted

·        Collect coding forms

·        How are sites training coders

·        Come up with consistent way to evaluate reliability among coders

·        Measuring content versus process

·        Decide which outcomes to measure against

·        Should we look for additional funding? The costs of coding at UNM have gone up.

·        Check with IRBs regarding sending tapes for coding.  Does coordinating site need additional IRB review or approval for this project?

2.

Coding Updates

·        Holly McGregor presented self determination coding schemes

·        Ken Resnicow emailed around his one pass system

·        OHSU is training staff to do tape coding using modified, one pass MISC

3.

Follow-up

·        Lynne Haverkos will be setting up the next conference call, Rosemary will help coordinate the date and time.

·        Consider presenting at SBM
